Iodine value is useful, but it does not describe every adsorption duty. Consider pore structure, contaminant size, contact time, particle form and the agreed test method.

Start with the process rather than an isolated headline value. Send the flow rate, contaminant profile and desired outlet quality. Compare samples under consistent conditions and keep records of the agreed specification.
